About the college
The Leading College in the Tees Valley!
Our focus is to equip you with the education, skills and training to progress into employment or higher education when you leave us. That’s why 94% of all the full time students that completed courses with us last summer have already secured employment, an apprenticeship or are accessing further study at College or University.
Middlesbrough College is unique in the region, in delivering courses in every occupational sector area and at every level, from entry level all the way through to level 7 including postgraduate qualifications. This means that whether you have lots of qualifications or none, we believe you are capable of doing great things. Whether you are a school leaver, a potential apprentice, an adult looking to retrain or improve their career prospects or are interested in degree-level study, we have a course for you.
Although many of our students live in the Middlesbrough, Stockton, Hartlepool and Redcar areas, we have students travelling from all across the region including Northallerton, Darlington and Whitby. We are a proud to be a College for our community and I often describe us ‘a world under one roof’, with people from all backgrounds and ages studying and working together in a vibrant, positive environment.
Our fantastic student benefits perks makes further education fully accessible to everyone, with free public transport, reduced food costs, help with course materials and even cash bursaries being made available to those who need it most.
We are a positive and ambitious College, with a strategy to continue to expand our offer and invest in our campus, despite the on-going budget cuts in the public sector. Since relocating to the Middlehaven campus in 2008, we have continued to develop our outstanding facilities and equipment and are proud to have one of the best College campuses in the UK – valued at over £100m.
Our purpose-built sixth form centre, MC6, provides students wanting to study A Levels, with a fantastic learning space, purpose built to prepare you for University. We are proud to have achieved a 100% pass rate in 18 subjects in 2015. Students in MC6 benefit from the industry standard facilities adjacent to the centre and can access guest speakers from industry to help inform their future decisions.
Our new £20m STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) training centre is now open and is training students in key skill shortage areas in the Tees Valley. This facility is based on a real work environment with students working to a shift pattern and operating at industry standards. The centre has been designed by industry, for industry and aims to help address the skills gaps both locally and nationally.
With record numbers of students enrolling with us in September, it is clear that Middlesbrough College has now become the first choice of study for many across Teesside.
Education has a huge impact on people’s lives and Middlesbrough College is passionate about enabling people to achieve their goals through high quality training.
We are confident we make a real positive difference to the lives of the students that study with us.
